Warm ginger tea
Fresh, spicy and warming. Ginger tea shows up in kitchens across the Caribbean, West Africa, India, China and beyond.
How to do it
Slice a thumb of fresh ginger. Simmer in two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain, add lemon, and honey if you like.
What we know
Some small studies have looked at ginger and period comfort, and at ginger and an upset stomach. The results are early and mixed.
Be careful if
you take blood thinners, have gallstones, or get heartburn easily. Food amounts are different from supplements.
