Warm compress

From: Used in homes around the world

How to do it

Rest a warm (not hot) cloth or heat pad on your lower belly for 15 to 20 minutes.

What we know

Heat has been studied for period cramps and many women find it comforting.

Be careful if

it's too hot. Never sleep with a heat pad on.

What this label means: Studied in trials. Looked at in human studies. That still doesn't mean it will work for you.

Very heavy bleeding, fainting, sudden or severe pain, or fever? Please don't wait. Contact a doctor or emergency services.

Pain that stops you from daily life, or that's getting worse? Please see a doctor.

"What worked for me" notes from the community are coming with the app. They'll be shared as personal experiences, never as medical advice.
